Quick and Easy Workout Techniques to Keep You Fit During the Holidays

Holiday time, while beautiful and fun, can be one of the most stressful and busy times of year. While you’re scrambling between work, family, and gift shopping, it might be hard to keep up with that workout routine you were so committed to just a few weeks ago. With some simple techniques, you can keep your body in-shape and conditioned until you’re ready to jump back into the routine.

Invisible Chair Sit
Yes, it's tempting to take a seat and relax during the holidays but giving up that seat is a chance to work out! The invisible chair sit is really just doing squats, which are beneficial for your leg muscles. Move that favorite chair to the side and bend your knees as if you’re about to take a seat. Spread your legs hip-width apart and lower your buttocks, emulating the “sitting” action. Then, stand up straight and repeat the process. These will keep your legs toned, which can come in handy for all of the mall tours you’ll be taking to holiday shop!

Old-fashioned sit-ups remain an easy way to keep those abs fit, especially during the holidays when delicious food seems to be around all the time. There is no need to go to a fitness center or hire an expensive trainer. Just get comfortable with your back straight on the floor or on an exercise mat, and your knees bent. Whether you have a partner holding your feet to the floor or you are alone, raise your body from the ground to your knees and lower it back down, but not allowing your back to touch the ground again. Try this in reps of 10, doing at least 3-4 sets per day. Sit-ups take no time at all and you’ll definitely feel the burn.

Find any opportunity to squeeze in a workout where you can. And don’t forget to schedule your routine massages at LaVida Massage of Troy so we can keep your body relaxed, soothed, and ready for whatever you have to take on next.
